Ranjana Phadke is a senior Indian classical Kathak dancer and choreographer based in Mumbai. She has been actively involved in the field of Kathak for over 30 years, as of 2020. Phadke received her Kathak training from several esteemed gurus, including Guru Maneesha Sathe and Guru Shama Bhate from Pune, and the late Guru Asha Joglekar in Mumbai. Her performances showcase a blend of traditional Kathak elements and contemporary interpretations. She has presented lively compositions such as a taal Rupak (7 beats) and has also explored socially relevant themes through her gat bhaav presentations, including a piece on a victim of sexual molestation, concluding with a message of strength and resilience. As a choreographer, Ranjana Phadke has created works like a Tarana in Taal Zaptal and Raag Basant, and a Kathak dance ballet titled "Voyage the Unending Journey." She has performed at significant venues, including the Experimental Theatre at NCPA. Beyond performing, Ranjana Phadke is also a dedicated teacher, offering Kathak dance classes in Mumbai. She leads an institution under her name, providing a platform for training in various dance forms. Her teaching emphasizes a supportive and friendly learning environment. She has trained students, including Tejashree Vaidya, who has accompanied her in performances.
