My journey in Bharatanatyam began over three decades ago, and since then, dance has been an integral part of my life. I had the privilege of learning Bharatanatyam under the guidance of my Guru, Dr. Shylaja Venkatesan, who has been a great influence in my artistic journey. I have completed my Diploma in Bharatanatyam and pursued my M.A. in Dance under the guidance of Dr. Sreelatha Vinod and Dr. Madan Kumar. Over the years, my passion for dance gradually transformed into my profession. Today, I run my own dance studio, where I train and nurture students in Bharatanatyam. I conduct regular classes and guide my students through their artistic journey, from learning the basics to preparing for university-affiliated grade examinations. I also organise and coordinate various dance events, including Salangai Pooja ceremonies and Natyanjali festivals. I have had the opportunity to choreograph and present my students in several Natyanjali programmes, giving them a platform to experience the joy and spirituality of performing Bharatanatyam on stage. Alongside teaching, I take great pride in preparing my students for examinations, performances, and cultural events, helping them grow not only as dancers but also as confident individuals who appreciate and carry forward the beauty of our classical tradition. For me, Bharatanatyam is not just a dance form—it is a lifelong journey of learning, teaching, performing, and passing the art on to the next generation.
