Rucha Khisti is a distinguished Kathak dancer and a pivotal senior faculty member at the esteemed Chitresh Das Institute (CDI) in the Bay Area, USA. Her profound journey into the world of Kathak commenced at the tender age of five in Baroda, India, where she received her foundational training under the guidance of Usha Damle. Demonstrating early dedication, she further solidified her classical education by successfully completing her Visharad from Gandharva Mahavidyala. Following a period in Canada, Khisti reignited her intensive Kathak studies in 2005, immersing herself in the teachings of Gretchen Hayden, a highly respected senior disciple of the legendary Kathak maestro, Pandit Chitresh Das. Her pursuit of excellence led her to the Bay Area in 2011, where she had the invaluable privilege of studying directly with Pandit Chitresh Das, an experience that profoundly shaped her artistry and deepened her understanding of the intricate Kathak form. Khisti's unwavering commitment extends significantly to her role as an educator, where she plays a crucial part in preserving and propagating the rich legacy of Kathak. She embarked on her teaching career with Chhandam in 2008, an organization closely associated with the Chitresh Das lineage, and subsequently became an integral part of the Cupertino staff at the Chitresh Das Institute in 2012. Today, Rucha Khisti holds the esteemed position of a senior faculty member at CDI and serves as the Assistant Director of the Chitresh Das Youth Company. In these capacities, she is instrumental in nurturing the next generation of Kathak dancers. She passionately instructs beginning and intermediate classes for children, teenagers, and adults, employing a teaching methodology that is described as gentle, fun, yet firm. Her objective is to introduce students to the joys of dance, foster a deep connection to their cultural heritage, and establish a strong foundation for aspiring Kathakas. Through her dedicated efforts, Rucha Khisti continues to be a vital force in sharing and expanding Pandit Chitresh Das's enduring artistic and educational legacy.
