Samrat Dutta is an eminent Bharatanatyam performer, choreographer, mentor, and researcher based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. His artistic journey began under the guidance of Guru Smt. Thankamani Kutty, and he further honed his skills as a disciple of the legendary Padmabhushan Prof. C.V. Chandrasekhar. Dutta also undertook specialized training in Marga Nritta under Guru Kalamandalam Piyal Bhattacharya. In 2005, Samrat Dutta founded ANGAMANTRA, a premier institution dedicated to Indian Classical Dance, with a specialized focus on Bharatanatyam. Over the past two decades, Angamantra has become a significant center for nurturing artistic excellence, producing accomplished performers recognized nationally. The institute's curriculum integrates traditional practices with contemporary artistic insights, aiming to connect the mind, body, and soul spiritually while providing the technical rigor necessary for professional success. Dutta's career is marked by several distinctions and national recognitions. He is a TOP Grade Solo Artist, recognized by Prasar Bharati for the Doordarshan Network. He has been awarded a Junior Fellowship by the CCRT, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and is an Empanelled Artist with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). Additionally, he is an Empanelled Artist with Spic Macay India and the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC). Samrat Dutta has graced stages at numerous prestigious festivals across India and abroad, presenting Bharatanatyam in its pure and glorious form.
