Sanjukta Sinha is a highly acclaimed Indian classical dancer, choreographer, and teacher, renowned for her expertise in Kathak. Born in Lucknow, India, she began her Kathak training at the age of seven, considering dance as essential as breathing [5]. Her foundational training was under the guidance of the late Pandit Arjun Mishra Ji, where she absorbed the core essence of Kathak, focusing on rhythm (lay) and expression (abhinaya) [6]. Sinha further honed her artistry under the tutelage of Padma Vibhushan Smt. Kumudini Lakhia Ji at the Kadamb Centre for Dance in Ahmedabad, where she trained for five years and later served as a dancer, teacher, choreographer, and researcher [4, 7, 13]. Sanjukta Sinha is celebrated for her ability to blend traditional Kathak elements with a clear, contemporary sensibility, characterized by precise footwork, controlled movement, and expressive abhinaya [3, 4]. She has performed extensively across India and internationally at prestigious venues such as the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, Fall for Dance New York, Battery Dance Festival, Tanzmesse Düsseldorf, Curve Theatre UK, Esplanade Singapore, and the Royal Opera House London [3, 4]. Her collaborations include working with artists like Bikram Ghosh and Anoushka Shankar, presenting Kathak in diverse performance contexts while remaining anchored in its core traditions [3, 4]. In 2019, Sinha founded the Sanjukta Sinha Dance Company (SSDC) in Ahmedabad, with a vision to celebrate diversity in unison and foster interdisciplinary streams of art [4, 11]. Through her performances, pedagogy, and choreography, she continues to push the boundaries of the classical form, inspiring the next generation of dancers and creating a space where dance transcends language barriers [6, 8, 11].
