Sejal Shah is an Indian classical dancer specializing in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. She commenced her training at the age of six under the tutelage of renowned Bharatanatyam exponents Kum. S. Subbalaxmi and Kum. S. Vasantha at Kalanjali, an institute affiliated with Bharatiya Sangeet Samiti, founded in 1980. Her rigorous training in both Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi spanned 16 years. Shah successfully performed her Arangetram in March 1994, at the age of 13, receiving commendation from her gurus and Chief Guest Guru Shri Mani, founder of Kalasadan Institute of Fine Arts. Throughout her career in India, Sejal Shah garnered numerous accolades for her dance performances. She was recognized as the All India 4th Ranker in Bharatanatyam at a Music and Dance Competition in 1995. She also secured 1st and 2nd prizes in Bharatanatyam for three consecutive years (1993, 1994, and 1995) at competitions organized by Nrityanjali. Her achievements include a 2nd Prize for Dance Competition from the Lions Club in 1993, a 2nd Prize for Folk Dance Competition from Nrityanjali in 1992-93, and an award for Classical Dance Competition in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi from Arunodaya Kala Niketan in 1994. Beyond classical forms, Shah expanded her dance repertoire to include Zumba, Western free-style, and Bollywood dances. She is a licensed Zumba Fitness instructor globally since October 2015, also holding licenses for Zumba Kids Fitness and Zumba Toning. She taught fitness to children and adults for two years in Mumbai, India, before relocating to Singapore. In Singapore, she continues to teach freestyle Bollywood dance and fitness, and actively choreographs for various events, demonstrating a natural flair for choreography across classical, folk, and fusion styles.
