Sheila Pitchumoni Narayanan is an Indian classical dancer and teacher, primarily known for her expertise in Bharatanatyam. She began her training at a young age under the legendary dancer and actress Padmini. For over 30 years, Sheila continued to learn and teach at the Padmini Institute of Fine Arts in New Jersey, traveling extensively across the country with her Guru. In 2002, with the blessings of Padmini and other Gurus from the Padmini Institute of Fine Arts, Sheila founded her own dance school, Shreyas Arts, in Tampa, Florida. The institution aims to promote Indian culture through Bharatanatyam, with classes initially starting from her home and later expanding to an official studio in the Carrollwood area. Sheila is recognized for her patient and caring teaching approach, focusing on nurturing the unique talents of her students. She is also a gifted orator and storyteller, adept at bringing ancient Hindu stories to life while maintaining their integrity. Sheila co-runs Shreyas Arts with her daughter, Shreya Narayanan, who was her first student. Together, they have revived several of Padmini's acclaimed productions and created unique shows of their own.
