🪔 About
Sireesha Avadhanam was born and raised in Andhra Pradesh, India, where she began her journey in Indian classical dance at the age of five, initially learning Kuchipudi and later exploring Bharatanatyam. After immigrating to San Diego, USA, in 2001, she continued to practice both dance forms on local platforms and with cultural organizations. In 2007, she founded the Manjeera Academy of Dances in San Diego with the intention of training local students in Indian Classical dances. The academy, which states it was established in 2005, focuses on providing structured instruction in Kuchipudi, honoring classical traditions. While she initially taught both Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam, she later decided to focus solely on Kuchipudi due to her professional commitments. In 2018, the Manjeera Academy of Dances achieved affiliation with the University of SiliconAndhra, which enabled students to receive WASP Accredited Certification programs, offering structured learning in both practical and theoretical aspects of Kuchipudi. Sireesha Avadhanam is currently pursuing a Master's program in Kuchipudi through the University of SiliconAndhra's online program. Beyond her dedication to dance, she also maintains a professional career as a Director of Program Management for a Cloud Services company. She aims to guide future generations to grasp core technical concepts and become torchbearers of this disciplinary art form. Her daughters, Sriya Avadhanam and Brinda Avadhanam, are also classical dancers and students of the academy.
