Smt. Nirothini Pararajasingam is a highly recognized authority and teacher in the world of Bharatanatyam, known for her dedication to promoting Indian Classical Dances and contemporary fusion dances among the younger generation for over 25 years. She serves as the President and CEO of Nirthyakalanjali Dance Academy and Niro Dance Creations, both based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her initial training in Bharatanatyam was under the tutelage of Smt. Balasundari Kanagasabai and Smt. Gowri Muthukumaraswami. She further honed her specialized techniques through the guidance of Guru Vijayambikai Indrakumar and concluded her studies with Guru Adayar K. Lakshmanan. Smt. Pararajasingam holds a Bharatha Choodamani diploma for dance and Nattuvangam from the Institute of Bharathachoodamani, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from Madras University. Her teaching career began in 1984, where she taught science and dance for five years at the Colombo Hindu Ladies College in Sri Lanka. In 1990, she established the Nirthya Kalanjali Academy of Fine Arts in Toronto, Ontario. As an accomplished performer, choreographer, and teacher, she strongly advocates for promoting Indian culture through Bharatanatyam. Under her guidance, the academy has trained hundreds of students and successfully completed 23 Arangetrams. Her choreographic works include the "Harichandra Ballet," for which she received the "Nirthya Choodamani" title, and the "Beeshma Ballet," a pioneering production involving over 90 students. In 2017, she coordinated a significant performance for Canada's 150th anniversary, bringing together 1,117 dancers from 42 academies, an event that also raised $50,000 for Scarborough Hospitals. Beyond her artistic endeavors, Smt. Pararajasingam is a director of the Tamil Cultural Progressive Organization, Canada, and a member of the South Asian Philanthropic Council of the Scarborough Hospital, actively participating in fundraising for various charitable organizations.
