Sohini Debnath is a distinguished Indian classical Kathak dancer, recognized as a Top Grade solo artiste with Doordarshan Kendra. Her journey into Kathak began at the tender age of three, under the tutelage of the esteemed Kathak exponent and Guru Padmashree Smt. Rani Karnaa. Debnath also received foundational training in Odissi and Hindustani Classical Music. Academically, she holds a graduate degree in Geography from Presidency College, Kolkata, and further pursued her passion by completing a Master's degree in Kathak from Rabindra Bharati University. Throughout her career, Sohini Debnath has garnered numerous accolades, including gold medals at the Doverlane Music Conference and the prestigious National Scholarship for Dance from the Government of India. She is an empanelled artiste with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi. Currently, she serves as the Director of Samskritiki Shreyaskar, Guru Rani Karnaa's Kathak Academy in Kolkata, where she oversees classes, productions, and programs. She is also a faculty member at Shikshak Online Music and Dance School, South Hampton, and actively conducts Kathak workshop demonstrations across India as an empanelled artiste with SPIC MACAY. Debnath is a repertoire member of "RANAN," a performance company in Kolkata, and frequently performs solo Kathak recitals across Europe, including Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark, and Switzerland. In 2014, she represented India as a cultural ambassador at the Musica Sacra International Festival in Marktoberdorf, Bavaria. She often collaborates with fellow dancer Debashree Bhattacharya, with whom she conceptualized and choreographed "Nirantaro," a dance exploration inspired by Rabindranath Tagore's poem Ananta Moron.
