Sovanabrata Sircar is an acclaimed Indian classical dancer and choreographer, primarily recognized for his mastery of Manipuri dance. He also received training in Kathakali dance. His classical dance education took place at Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan. Sircar is an award-winning artist, having been honored with prestigious awards such as the Natya Shree Award, the Rajiv Gandhi Award, and the International Dance Day Puskar. He is a regular performer at significant cultural festivals both within India and abroad. Sovanabrata Sircar frequently performs alongside his disciple and wife, Nutan Sircar, who is also a noted performer of classical Indian dances. Together, they present traditional Manipuri dance, often focusing on themes of divine love between Radha and Krishna, and performing excerpts from the elaborate Raasleela. He is known for his soft and lyrical dance movements, characteristic of the Manipuri style, and has been noted for his ability to speak about the Manipuri dance form during performances.
