Smt. Srilatha Suri is a distinguished figure in Indian classical dance, renowned for her profound contributions to Kuchipudi. Her artistic journey spans over six decades, marked by a deep passion for the art form. She began her training in Bharatanatyam under Guru Smt. Jayalakshmi Narayan for seven years in the Pandanallur style, culminating in her arangetram in 1982. Inspired by Padma Shree Dr. Sobha Naidu's scintillating performances, Srilatha Suri pursued Kuchipudi, becoming a senior disciple of the internationally acclaimed guru at her academy in Hyderabad, India. She further solidified her expertise by completing a Masters in Kuchipudi from Silicon Andhra University. As a performer, Srilatha Suri has graced the stage in over 700 solo performances and toured extensively with her guru, Dr. Sobha Naidu, across India, the United States, and Trinidad and Tobago in 1985. Her performances are widely appreciated for their exceptional creativity, meticulous teaching, and excellent artistic vision. Srilatha Suri is the founder and Artistic Director of the Natyanjali Kuchipudi Dance School, established around 1999 in Plano, Texas, with branches in Coppell, Frisco, and Irving. The school is recognized as a premier institution for Kuchipudi training in the United States, dedicated to preserving and disseminating the cultural legacy of Kuchipudi. Under her mentorship, students receive intensive training, imaginative choreography, and opportunities for professional development, including advanced diplomas affiliated with Padmavati University through TANA. Beyond her artistic endeavors, Srilatha Suri is also a cultural ambassador and philanthropist. She is actively involved in charitable initiatives through "Echoes of India," utilizing dance to raise funds and support various causes, including promoting Telugu language education and addressing social issues like the Ganges River contamination through dance ballets. Her dedication to safeguarding Indian classical dances and her unwavering commitment to community service continue to inspire aspiring artists globally.
