Sruthi Ramesh is an emerging Bharatanatyam dancer based in the United States. She received her foundational and advanced training in this classical Indian dance form under the guidance of Guru Smt. Sujatha Meyyappan, the artistic director of the Kolam Academy of Dance, situated in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts. A significant milestone in her artistic journey was her Bharatanatyam Arangetram, a traditional solo debut performance, which she presented on August 11, 2019. The arangetram took place at the Seifert Performing Arts Center in Salem, New Hampshire, USA. Her debut was described as a "flawless rendition" that captivated the audience. During the performance, Ramesh showcased her expertise in conveying emotions and narratives through her expressive eyes and nuanced facial expressions, particularly in a substantial Varnam. She also presented a unique and contemporary piece titled "Mazhai," based on a composition by Mahakavi Subramanya Bharathiyar, which depicted the various facets of rain, from its gentle beauty to its powerful intensity. The performance was enhanced by the accompaniment of renowned musicians from India, including Sri E.P. Sudev Warrier on vocals and Sri K.S. Sudhaman on Mridangam, with Guru Sujatha Meyyappan providing the nattuvangam and choreography. Before her arangetram, Sruthi Ramesh had already garnered recognition for her talent. In 2016, she secured the first prize in the Super Dancer Classical Dance competition, competing in the 11-13 age category. This competition was organized by the New England Tamil Sangam (NETS). Her association with Kolam Academy of Dance highlights her consistent dedication and profound love for Bharatanatyam, as she has evolved from a young student into a confident and graceful performer.
