Sumita Mukherjee is a celebrated exponent of Kathak, primarily from the Lucknow Gharana. She holds a Master of Kathak Dance degree from Rabindra Bharati University (R.B.U.). Her extensive training in Kathak was under the tutelage of illustrious mentors including Pt. Om Prakash Maharaj, Smt. Bela Arnab, and Smt. Sreelekha Mukherjee. Beyond Kathak, she also received training in Bharatanatyam from Guru N. Pandarinathan and Manipuri dance from Guru Smt. Iva Shingh. Smt. Mukherjee has performed mesmerizingly in numerous prestigious national and international classical dance concerts. She began her teaching career at the age of 18 and has since mentored a vast number of students, including many from across the globe. With over 30 years of experience in the education sector, she has also earned a Pre-primary and Primary Diploma in Montessori Education with a specialization in child psychology from Calcutta Montessori Training Centre. Her teaching approach combines artistic brilliance with a deep understanding of child development. Sumita Mukherjee is also actively involved in social work, dedicating over 25 years to uplifting and supporting various communities. She is described as a devoted artist, educator, inspiring teacher, and compassionate social worker. She is the Chairperson of the Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Indian Culture & Therapy.
