Srilekha Mukherjee is a distinguished figure in Indian classical dance, renowned for her expertise in Kathak, particularly from the Lucknow Gharana. She holds a Master of Kathak Dance from Rabindra Bharati University (R.B.U.). Her extensive training in Kathak was under the tutelage of illustrious mentors, including Pt. Om Prakash Maharaj and Smt. Bela Arnab. Beyond Kathak, Mukherjee's dance repertoire is diverse, encompassing training in Bharatanatyam under Guru N. Pandarinathan and Manipuri dance under Guru Smt. Iva Shingh. A National Awardee, Srilekha Mukherjee has graced numerous prestigious national and international classical dance concerts with her mesmerizing performances. Her dedication extends to education, having begun teaching dance at the age of 18. With over 30 years of experience in the education sector, she has mentored a vast number of students, including many from across the globe, nurturing countless aspiring artists who continue to carry forward her legacy. Among her documented students are Debalina Roy, Shilpi Mukherjee (her daughter), and Sumita Mukherjee. Srilekha Mukherjee is also the Chairperson of the Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Indian Culture & Therapy (S.R.I.I.C.T), an institution dedicated to promoting mental health and physical well-being through various psychological care services and alternative therapeutic approaches, including dance movement therapy. Her commitment to holistic development is further evidenced by her Pre-primary and Primary Diploma in Montessori Education with a specialization in child psychology from Calcutta Montessori Training Centre. Additionally, she has been actively involved in social work for over 25 years, dedicating her time and skills to uplift and support various communities.
