🪔 About

Arathi Srinivas is a dedicated Bharatanatyam dancer and guru, specializing in the Kalakshetra style. Her journey in classical dance began at the tender age of six, when she was initiated into the art form under the tutelage of Guru Smt. Geetha Ananthanarayan. Even as a child, her determination to learn Bharatanatyam was evident, despite societal stereotypes in India regarding aspiring dancers. Srinivas continued her dance education while actively participating in local theaters and acting in Indian television soap operas, even after marriage and having a daughter. She holds a distinction in the Senior Examination conducted by the Government of Karnataka and has pursued the Vidwath curriculum. Her artistic prowess extends to choreography, for which she received an award from renowned cinema director Sri. Nagabharana for choreographing a script. Srinivas has also performed in lead roles in ballet productions of her parent institution and in various dramas, including the Mysore Dasara Festival. In 2006, Arathi Srinivas began her teaching career in Memphis, Tennessee, with an initial group of six students. She later moved to Thousand Oaks, California, where she founded and currently serves as the artistic director of Natyadwani – School of Bharatanatyam. The school, established in 2012, is recognized as one of the locally well-known Bharatanatyam dance schools in the area, offering classical instruction to over 75 students of all ages. Natyadwani emphasizes strong technique, focusing on clear footwork, precise hand gestures, deep knowledge of rhythmic patterns, animated facial expressions, and a thorough understanding of the Natya Shastra. Srinivas also conducts online classes, reaching students in various geographical locations. Her teaching philosophy centers on the success and personal growth of her students through dance. Awards & Honours: Award for choreographing a script from Sri. Nagabharana.
