Alisha Menon is a versatile performing artist who seamlessly integrates her passion for Indian classical dance and theater with a distinguished career in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Her journey in the performing arts began at a young age, with dance training starting at four and acting at six, leading to extensive stage experience across over 200 main stage performances. Menon is particularly interested in exploring the confluence of Indian Classical Dance with contemporary narratives and Western theatrical forms, showcasing a unique artistic vision. A highlight of her dance career includes a significant 2023 Europe Tour with the Anjali Dance Company. During this tour, she was honored with an invitation by UNESCO's International Dance Council (CID) to perform at The World Festival of Indian Dance, held at the Dora Stratou Dance Theater in Athens. Additionally, she performed in Hamburg, Berlin, and Amsterdam, invited by the Counsel Generals of India, to present the rich cultural heritage of India through dance to local audiences. In 2022, Menon expanded her choreographic repertoire by serving as a choreographer for the Houston Grand Opera's innovative fusion opera production, "Monkey, Francine, and the City of Tigers." Her theatrical credits are notable, including playing the title character "Chitra" in the Northwest Children's Theater's production of "Chitra: The Girl Prince" in 2018, and the principal character "Rann" in "Jungle Book" in 2015. Earlier, in 2014, she performed as "Janaki Dev Balan" in the Anjali School of Dance's production of "Murder on the Ganges." Her mother, Anita Menon, a director and choreographer, has also been involved in productions such as "Chitra: The Girl Prince," suggesting a familial influence and early training environment. While maintaining a vibrant performing arts presence, Alisha Menon also achieved a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2022. She is primarily based in the United States, with her roots in Beaverton, Oregon.
