Dr. Yumlembam Bidyananda is a prominent exponent and academic in the Manipuri style of Indian classical dance. He holds a PhD in Manipuri Dance from Visva Bharati Santiniketan, where he also completed his undergraduate and Master's degrees. His training included guidance from notable gurus such as Prof. Konjengbam Sunita Devi, under whom he received the National Scholarship for Young Artistes, and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Smt. Nongthombam Amusana Devi for stage presentation techniques. Prof. Yaikhom Hemanta Kumar guided his PhD research. Dr. Bidyananda's passion for dance was nurtured by his great aunts, Padmashri Yumlembam Gambhini and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Yumlembam Ranjana, both renowned dancers, despite initial parental reservations. He began his performance journey with a debut at a local temple and undertook his first dance tour outside Manipur in Visakhapatnam in 2006. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor at Manipur International University in Imphal, Manipur, and is also a home tutor. He is actively involved in choreographing and performing Manipuri Classical Recitals. Awards & Honours: National Scholarship for Young Artistes, 3rd Prize in Krishna Avishar competition.
