Smt. Indumathy Ganesh is a premiere exponent of Bharatanatyam, widely recognized in the San Francisco Bay Area. She received her initial training under the esteemed danseuse Padmashree Chitra Visveswaran. Throughout her career, Indumathy Ganesh has performed extensively, earning accolades from dance critics and the respect of contemporary dancers for her exquisite execution of Bharatanatyam. Her performances are noted for their flawless rhythm, flowing grace, and powerful projection of various moods, seamlessly combining bhava (expression), raga (melody), and tala (rhythm) into effortless renditions. In 1989, Indumathy Ganesh founded the Nrithyollasa Dance Academy, an institution dedicated to providing rigorous and intense training in Bharatanatyam. The academy's curriculum encompasses both the practical and theoretical aspects of the art form, including nattuvangam (dance conducting). Nrithyollasa Dance Academy conducts classes in Fremont, Pleasanton, and Saratoga, California. Under her guidance, the academy has trained hundreds of students over the past decades, celebrating its 100th student arangetram in 2019. Indumathy Ganesh has choreographed and presented numerous solo thematic productions, such as "Glory of Rama," "Bhakthi Shakthi – The Strength of Devotion," "Arpana," "Dance of Shiva," "Shakthi," "Swapna," and "Recollections." She has also actively collaborated with other dancers in the San Francisco Bay Area on community fundraisers and performances, including "In Praise of Giving," "The Hero's Journey," "Navagraha," "Stree Mahima," "Abhaya Hasta," "Divya Nama Anjali," "Shringara," and "Maitreem Bhajata." Her participation as a soloist extends to prestigious events like the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festivals and the Asian Pacific Performing Arts Festivals. In 1997, she presented a series of performances with the California Contemporary Dancers in San Francisco. For her dedication to the arts, Indumathy Ganesh was conferred the titles of Natya Mayuri and Lalitha Kala Rathna in 1998. Her academy, Nrithyollasa Dance Academy, also received first prize in the classical category at dance competitions organized by the Federation of India Association, Northern California, in both 1996 and 1997.
