🪔 About

Kanya Ramachandran Tayalia is a distinguished Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer, and teacher. She commenced her dance journey with her arangetram at the age of ten, under the guidance of Guru S. K. Kameshwaran and her mother, Guru Smt. Padmini Ramachandran. Her mother is a world-renowned exponent of the Vazhuvoor school of Bharatanatyam. Kanya has performed extensively across India, gracing prestigious stages such as the Music Academy in Chennai, Nishagandi and Surya festivals in Kerala, Dover Lane festival in Kolkata, NCPA, and ICCR in Delhi and Mumbai. She was notably the youngest dancer to perform at the SAARC convention held in Bangalore and has also performed internationally in the UK, France, Germany, USA, and the Middle East, earning accolades from critics and audiences. Her choreographic talent is evident in productions like 'Mukunda Mala,' presented by her students. Kanya is deeply involved in continuing the legacy of Natyapriya, the institution founded by her mother in 1974, and is also working towards establishing "Nrithya Kshetra," a cultural center dedicated to teaching dance to underprivileged sections of society. Beyond dance, she has acted in "Himashweta," an acclaimed Kannada dance serial, and made a cameo appearance as a dance teacher in the Oscar-winning film "Life of Pi". She holds an MBA in Marketing from the University of Wales, Cardiff.
