Meghana Ravikumar is an Indian classical dancer and choreographer whose movement practice is rooted in Bharatanatyam, alongside Contemporary and Modern dance forms. She began her intensive training in Bharatanatyam at a young age, studying for seven years under Guru Meena Logan, the founder of the Pushpanjali Dance Academy. In 2011, at the age of 16, Ravikumar marked a significant milestone in her dance journey by performing her Bharatanatyam arangetram, a debut solo performance demonstrating her proficiency in the art form. This event took place at the Campbell Heritage Theatre in Campbell, California. Ravikumar's artistic work is deeply inspired by her Indian-American experience and her personal search for home. She utilizes a blend of memoirs, short stories, poetry, dance, and photography to unravel and understand her individual journey, create loving spaces, and engage in storytelling as a form of activism. Her contemporary dance pieces often explore themes such as longing, loss, and the impact of the pandemic, as seen in her work "Through the Vortex". Her choreographic works have been showcased at various platforms, including Kearny Street Workshop's APAture and Shawl Anderson Dance Center's AAPI Salon in 2023. In 2024, she was an invited participant for Melisa Zulberti's workshop at the Venice Biennale and created "kālá" during a residency with the Unrehearsed Artist Residency Program. She also presented "- - . - . - / - . - - ." at Shawl Anderson Dance Center's Anniversary Salon in 2025. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Meghana Ravikumar also has a professional career in AI/ML, developing and launching breakthrough models and MLOps products.
