Radhini Sivadharan is a prominent Bharathanatyam performing artist, choreographer, and teacher, based in the UK. She is the daughter of “Kalabhooshanam” Shrimathy Thiripurasundari Yoganantham, under whom she received her initial training in Bharathanatyam at Kalaimanram. Her Arangetram, a debut on-stage performance, took place on July 3, 1999, at Ramakrishna Hall in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Demonstrating a natural talent for dance, she performed her first solo at the age of four. Since her Arangetram in 1999, Radhini Sivadharan has been actively teaching Bharathanatyam at Kalaimanram, an institution with a rich history. Kalaimanram was established by her grandfather, Late W.M Cumarasamy of Jaffna, and was inaugurated in 1958 by her mother's guru, the esteemed “Natya Kala Kesari,” “Isai Perarignar,” and “Padmashri” Vazhuvoor B. Ramaiah Pillai. The academy propagates the Vazhuvoor style of Bharathanatyam, known for its elegance and grace. Throughout her career, Radhini Sivadharan has performed extensively. Early in her career, she participated in numerous annual programs and dance dramas produced by Kalaimanram in Sri Lanka, and also appeared in many Sri Lankan TV shows. Notable performances include dancing for the Archbishop of Canterbury and at the 4th World Hindu conference in Sri Lanka in 1995. After moving to the UK, she continued to perform, presenting “Sangamam,” an evening of Bharathanatyam, for Black History Month in 2002, and performing at the May Day celebrations at the heritage museum in Harrow in 2003. She was also selected to perform the lead male role of Ravanan in “Thirukoneshwaram,” a production choreographed by the internationally renowned M. V. Narasimhachari, at the Royal Festival Hall in London. As a dedicated educator, Radhini Sivadharan has trained students for various special programs and competitions, earning recognition for her efforts. She prepares students for examinations conducted by the N.C.O.M.S in Sri Lanka and the OEBL in the UK, up to the teachers' grade examinations, which is a diploma in Bharathanatyam. She also serves as a lead teacher at Kalaimanram, which has locations in Harrow, Edgware, and Milton Keynes in the UK. Additionally, she has accompanied her mother in Nattuvangam for several Arangetrams presented by Kalaimanram.
