Dr. Sujatha Mohan is a distinguished Bharatanatyam artist, educator, choreographer, and researcher with over three decades of experience dedicated to the preservation and teaching of this classical art form. She is a senior disciple of Padma Vibhushan Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, under whose tutelage she trained for nearly five decades, completing various diplomas including "Nritya Pravesika" (1984), "Nritya Visarada" (1986), "Nattuvangam" (1993), "Nrityasali" (Karana) (1993), "Angahara & Choreography" (2008), and "Natyasastra" (2011) from Nrithyodaya. Dr. Mohan holds a B.A. (1986), M.A. (1988), and M.Phil. (1989) in Sanskrit Literature from Madras University, an M.F.A. in Bharatanatyam (2012) from SASTRA University, and a Ph.D. in Sanskrit (Natya) (2016) from SCSVMV, Kanchipuram. She also acquired teacher's training in Yoga from Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in 2017. Her extensive academic career includes serving as an Associate Professor and Research Supervisor at Vel's University, VISTAS, Chennai, and as an Assistant Professor (part-time) at the University of Silicon Andhra, California, USA, since 2022. Previously, she was the Head of the Department of Natya at Dr. MGR Janaki College, Chennai, for over 16 years, guiding both undergraduate and postgraduate students. She also served as a guest faculty member at SASTRA University (2014-2020) and taught at Nrithyodaya (1986-1990). Since 1997, Dr. Sujatha Mohan has been the Founder and Artistic Director of Padmashree Nrithyalaya, a school for music and dance in Chennai, which celebrated its silver jubilee in 2023. She has also taught dance in various CBSE schools in Chennai since 1993. Her research contributions include authoring a book on Gitagovinda- Sahitya and Natya and presenting numerous papers at international conferences. Awards & Honours: Senior Research Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture (2012), Tagore Research Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India (2020), Bharathanrithya Priya, Sathya Bharathanrithya Sundaram.
