Sukanya Ravindhar is a distinguished Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher, and arts administrator, deeply rooted in the tradition of her Guru, Padmashri Smt. Chitra Visweswaran. She has been an integral part of Smt. Chitra Visweswaran's Chidambaram Academy of Performing Arts (CAPA) in Chennai, India, for over 35 years, where she currently serves as the Director and senior-most faculty member, as well as the Centre Head for the ECR Branch. Her extensive training under Smt. Chitra Visweswaran includes advanced teachers training and nattuvangam, the complex art of wielding cymbals, which she has performed for her Guru since 1993. In this capacity, Sukanya has toured globally, accompanying Smt. Chitra Visweswaran across India, France, the U.K., U.A.E., U.S.A., Canada, Germany, Luxembourg, Sri Lanka, Australia, Indonesia, and Singapore. Sukanya specializes in dance dramas and theatre productions of CAPA, contributing as a dancer, assistant choreographer, lighting designer, stage and logistics coordinator, and research assistant. Her commitment to arts education is evident in her holistic teaching approach, designed by her Guru, which she imparts to both beginners and advanced students, including serious-minded individuals from around the world. She has presented numerous lecture demonstrations and workshops, incorporating new-age concepts and an inquiry-based approach to arts learning, influenced by her training in the International Baccalaureate® methodology and her role as Founder/Trustee of Grassroots Global School. Additionally, she has explored the multidisciplinary aspects of art, completing a course in Healing with the Arts from the University of Florida and intensive training in Screendance, through which she directed "The Endless Cycle" and "Rihat Rama Charitam."
